Theme:God helps us tell others about Jesus.
Goal:Children will praise God for helping them tell others about Jesus.
Text:Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:1-11
Summary:The disciples met Jesus in Galilee on a mountainside before He ascended into heaven. Jesus commanded them to make disciples of all nations and teach them everything He commanded them. He promised to be with them always, even to the end of the age. Later, Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Before his ascension, the disciples asked if Israel’s kingdom would be restored. Jesus said these future events were not for them to know, but they would receive power from the Holy Spirit. They would be witnesses from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. At this, Jesus was taken up to heaven. The disciples stared intently up at the sky, and two angels appeared, telling the disciples that Jesus would return one day in the same fashion He left.
Discussion Starters:Why do you think Jesus told His disciples to make disciples of all nations?
What power did Jesus promise to send to the disciples?
What can you do to tell others about Jesus?

Theme:Jesus gives us new birth.

Text:1 Peter 1:3-9
Summary:Praise to God for a Living Hope
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Discussion Starters:What does it mean to say that Jesus is the only way to God?
How do we receive the new birth Jesus gives?

Theme:Jesus is risen!
Goal:Children will celebrate Jesus because He died for all of us and He is alive.
Text:Matthew 27:27-56; 28:1-10
Summary:After Jesus’ arrest and trials, the soldiers mocked Jesus by dressing Him as a king and adorning Him with a crown of thorns. They hurled fists and insults at Him. As they were going out to Golgotha, Simon of Cyrene was drafted to carry the cross. The soldiers cast lots for His clothes and a sign mocking Jesus as King of the Jews was nailed above His head. The crowd, leaders and two thieves on either side of Jesus all cast insults at Jesus. As the time grew near, darkness spread over the land. Jesus cried out at God for forsaking Him. Then Jesus gave up His spirit. At that moment the Temple veil was torn from the top, an earthquake happened and people rose from the dead. On Sunday, some women found at Jesus’ tomb an angel that had rolled back the stone. The angel said that Jesus was not there; He had risen as promised! On the way to tell the others, Jesus appeared to the women!
Discussion Starters:Why was Jesus’ death a good thing?
Why was Jesus’ resurrection a good thing?
What does Jesus’ resurrection mean for you?

Welcome to At-Home Junior Church! Today is Palm Sunday and we are remembering it is good to worship Jesus!

Here are some songs to sing about Jesus’ power!

Our story today is Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday:

Here is the Story from Matthew:

Here is another video of this story from The Miracle Maker movie:

For Parents

Theme:It is good to praise Jesus.
Goal:Children will praise Jesus for specific things in several creative ways.
Text:Matthew 21:1-11; Psalm 118:19-29
Summary:Approaching Jerusalem, Jesus sent two disciples to Bethphage where they would find a donkey and colt tied. He asked them to bring them to Him; this fulfilled the prophecy that Jesus would ride into Jerusalem on a colt. As Jesus rode into the city, people placed their cloaks and tree branches on the road. They shouted, “Hosanna” and “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” Everyone asked who this man was, and the crowds answered it was Jesus, the prophet of Nazareth. The passage from Psalms is what the crowds shouted to Jesus when He entered Jerusalem. It also describes people praising with “boughs in hand.”
Discussion Starters:Why is it good to praise Jesus? What kinds of things can you do to praise Jesus? What can you do to remind yourself to praise Jesus every day?

Welcome to At-Home Junior Church! Today we are worshiping Jesus because he has power over death!

Here are some songs to sing about Jesus’ power!

Our story today is Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Here is the Story from John:

Here is another video of this story from The Miracle Maker movie:

For Parents

Theme: Jesus has power over death.
Goal: Children will praise Jesus for His power over death and in their lives.
Text: John 11:1-45
Summary: Lazarus became sick, and his sisters sent word to Jesus of his status. Jesus said this would result in God’s glory. He remained where he was for two more days, then journeyed with his disciples back to Judea, even though the people there tried to stone Jesus earlier. Jesus arrived in Bethany to find Lazarus had been dead for four days. His sisters were saddened but trusted that Jesus was the Christ. Jesus said that He was the resurrection and the life. Jesus wept when He saw the tomb of Lazarus. After the stone was rolled away as he had asked, Jesus prayed, loud enough so that everyone could hear, for Lazarus to come out. He rose from the dead and walked out! The many mourners there put their faith in Him.
Discussion Starters: *Why do you think Jesus waited so long before coming to see Lazarus?
*What do you think the people were thinking before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead?
*What do you think the people were thinking after Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead?
