Joy Mixed with Sorrow
I was turned down for the Life Connection program in Milan, MI. I prepared myself mentally for a rejection and the Lord, by his grace, has given me peace about it. My family plans to visit me this fall and I have a visit from my uncle and aunt next month. Things are alright. God has a purpose for me here, of course, or maybe somewhere else. You never know when I will go somewhere without notice. Please pray for my strength, patience, and to have a heart of love towards all men. Well the K-2 study has been growing at a rate I would never had expected. It is crazy what prayer to the Lord can do...

It’s amazing how fast time has gone by here at Sandstone. My group and I have made much progress in the area of Thursday night prayer group. [The first week we] had eight men and last night we had about seven. I conduct the group using a “prayer-and-share” card I was given at Charis. We go around the group and share our weeks and concerns in prayer. Our studies are on Sunday through Wednesday nights (please pray that they grow). Men have been weary to come to that group for some reason and it brings sorrow to my soul. They do love the prayer group and so do I, but we must...

Alright, well the Lord has been working in amazing ways. The K2 Bible study group had been struggling. I mean struggling and it seemed cold and just religious. Well, I prayed and all of us went to an event called Charis here in our prison. The first couple of days I was not enjoying it. Actually when I first came there I was feeling weak both spiritually and physically. Well, that is not the case today. I will share with you an entry from my journal dated February 18th, 2013. 10:31pm – Tonight was amazing. God works, even in the darkest of places. This weekend, 2/15-2/18, was a...

I believe in life that my learning month has always been February. It’s like a divine month when God, by his grace, pours down wisdom and blessing to me. I remember four years ago today in the U.P. while my two weeks off from work in North Dakota I was blessed to listen to a sermon and a spark formed in my heart to pursue the Lord. He of course was pursuing me. I thank him for that grace. Three years ago I became familiar with DA man called John MacArthur and his ministry GTY. Two years ago I met Paul after calling GTY and trying to find someone who could teach me something. Thank the...

Being here you learn all about how time works in prison. This time of the year (mostly December through March) is a hump that’s hard to get by. My Bible study group is making it along yet nothing new is happening. We are in our routines and just experiencing Minnesota cold. Football season is nearly over so it’s all idle time, until the draft at least. The yard is closed due to the weather. I am stuck in limbo just waiting for a response to my Life Connection paperwork. This is truly a time of slow. Work has been good. Many men are preparing to leave and Boobie and I are helping...
